Религиозно-философское течение, возникшее в США в 1950-е. В 1965 была зарегистрирована "Церковь сайентологии" [Church of Scientology] с центром в г. Лос-Анджелесе. Основной упор в философии сайентологии делается на "самоосвобождение" - духовное и физическое исцеление человека; сайентология основана на теории т.н. дианетики, выдвинутой писателем-фантастом Р. Хаббардом [Hubbard, L. Ron] (1911-1986) в книге "Дианетика: современная наука умственного здоровья" ["Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health"] (1950), которая объединяет элементы психологии и биологии, а также религии. Согласно теории Хаббарда, все аспекты человеческого поведения взаимосвязаны и могут быть приведены в состояние гармонии. Жизненная энергетика заложена во Вселенной, что и определяет образ действий и состояние человека.
