сокр USDA, DoAПравительственное ведомство, оказывающее широкий круг услуг американским фермерским хозяйствам и регулирующее различные аспекты деятельности агрохозяйственного бизнеса страны: поддержание стабильных цен на сельхозпродукцию, выдача продуктовых талонов [ food stamps] неимущим, ссуды фермерам, контроль за использованием почв, биологические исследования, классификация и инспекция качества мяса и других продуктов, прогнозы урожайности, страхование на случай неурожая, налаживание внешней торговли сельскохозяйственной продукцией. Создано в мае 1862, став восьмым по счету министерством в США. Возглавляется министром сельского хозяйства [ Secretary of Agriculture], назначаемым Президентом США "по совету и с согласия" [ advice and consent] Сената [ Senate, U.S.] и являющимся членом кабинета министров [ cabinet].
