Bildabtaster, ein Abtastgerät, das die in einem Schriftstück, einer Zeichnung oder einer Fotografie enthaltenen Informationen elektro-optisch in ein Bitmap umwandelt, das als Datei im Rechner gespeichert oder auf dem Bildschirm dargestellt werden kann. Mit Bildbearbeitungsprogrammen kann das Bitmap nachbearbeitet werden. Text-Bitmaps können mit OCR-Programmen in ASCII-Zeichenfolgen umgewandelt werden. Bitmaps von Strichzeichnungen können mit Vektorisierungsprogrammen in Vektoren umgewandelt und z.
