    Профессиональная организация. Ведет исследовательскую и просветительскую работу, лоббистскую деятельность при обсуждении законопроектов, касающихся больничного дела и здравоохранения. Основана в 1899 в г. Кливленде как Ассоциация больничных администраторов [Association of Hospital Superintendents], современное название с 1906. В 1973 приняла "Билль о правах пациента" [Patient's Bill of Rights]. Объединяет около 5 тыс. организаций (все виды клиник и больниц) и 37 тыс. индивидуальных членов (2004). Штаб-квартира в г. Чикаго, филиал в г. Вашингтоне. Лозунг: "Мы - за улучшение здоровья Америки" ["Advancing Health In America"].
