1 Sweeper
A term applied to an arrangement fixed to the back of the sley of a loom. Its function is to prevent the formation of " buttons " on the warp threads. The sweeper is composed of coarse strands of yarn, and stretches from sword to sword. When the sley moves forward, it pulls the sweeper with it, which acts on the top shed like a brush. On the sley receding, it pushes the sweeper backwards. -
