סָפַג(denom. of סְפוֹג) 1) to swallow, absorb. Cant. R. to VII, 3 מה חטה זו סוֹפֶגֶת … סוֹפְגִיןוכ׳ as the wheat (flour) absorbs (water), so Israel absorbs Ab. V, 15, v. סְפוֹג; a. e.Trnsf.
