    בָּקַר(b. h.; √בק, v. בקע) to enter into, to clear, split; whence 1) (= בער) to eat up. Denom. בָּקָר (= בְּעִיר). 2) (= בער) to break forth, shine. Denom. בֹּקֶר. Pi. בִּיקֵּר, בִּקֵּר (b. h.) 1) to enter into, examine, search, distinguish (cmp. בִּין). Keth.106a מְבַקְּרֵי מומין those entrusted with the examination of sacrificial animals. Y.Bets. II, 61c top ובִיקְּרָן ממומן and had them examined (and declared free) from bodily defects.
