Phryn. 331; eigtl. fem. von πρυμνός, statt πρυμνὴ ναῦς, das äußerste Hinterende des Schiffes, Schiffshintertheil, Schiffsspiegel; πρύμνη νηὸς ἀείρετο, Od. 13, 84; auch νηὸς ἀπὸ πρύμνης, Il. 15, 435; πρύμνης νεὸς ἥψατο, ib. 704; u. adjectivisch, νηῒ πάρα πρύμνῃ, 7, 383, wo man πρυμνῇ accentuirt erwarten sollte, vgl. 11, 600. 16, 286 Od. 2, 417. 12, 411; μὴ νηυσὶν ἐπὶ πρύμνῃσι μάχωνται, Il. 8, 475; ἐν πρύμνᾳ, Pind. Vesp. 397, wo der Schol. sagt ὅταν μετακαϑίσαντες οἱ ἐρέται ἐλαύνοιεν ὀπίσω ἐπὶ τὴν πρύμναν u. anführt, daß dies bes. beim Einlaufen in den Hafen geschehe, damit das Schiff nachher, ohne umzuwenden, abfahren könne (vgl. κρούω u.
