истИстребление большой группы индейцев сиу [ Sioux] в Южной Дакоте отрядом федеральных войск под командованием полковника Форсайта [Forsyth, James W.] в 1890. В декабре 1890 на территории резервации Пайн-Ридж [ Pine Ridge Reservation] американцы захватили в плен группу из примерно 350 индейцев племен миниконжу [ Minneconjou] и хункпапа [ Hunkpapa] народности сиу под предводительством Большой Ноги [ Big Foot], сопротивлявшихся попыткам белых захватить их земли и бежавших из резервации Стэндинг-Рок [ Standing Rock Reservation]. Солдаты 7-го кавалерийского полка привели пленных индейцев в лагерь на ручье Вундед-Ни. Случайный выстрел при разоружении пленных спровоцировал схватку, превратившуюся в истребление индейских воинов, женщин и детей. Индейцы оказали сопротивление. В результате в схватке погибло около 300 индейцев и 25 солдат, а более 50 индейцев и 39 солдат были ранены.
