The nouveaux riches — это те, кто быстро накопил капитал и использует его для продвижения по социальной лестнице. В Англии это выражение имело отрицательное значение, поскольку оно подчёркивало отсутствие культуры, воспитания, образования. Сейчас в русском переводе слово «нувориш» имеет более нейтральное, менее «осудительное» значение. Но, не будучи русским, затрудняюсь объяснить почему. -
