A strong, twilled cotton fabric, napped on the back and used for cheap dresses, linings and underwear. Made in several qualities, one is 64 X 64 per inch 16's/10's, piece-dyed. Also made bleached and printed. Principally used in Germany, Austria, etc. -
102 Batiste Silk
A fine woven all-silk fabric in plain taffeta weave. Dyed or printed for light dresses. It is made in quantity all the year round and is a standard. One quality is 100 X 120 per inch, from about 75 denier warp and weft. -

108 Broadcloth
Given to an all-cotton cloth used for many dress purposes, bleached, dyed and printed 35-in./90 yards 124 X 64 per inch, 36's/40's yarns, 22-lb. plain weave. Better qualities have two-fold warp or two-fold warp and weft, generally 2/80's Egyptian, which greatly resemble Lancashire poplins. ———————— A term that in many districts was used to indicate garments worn by the clergy. It is a stout wool cloth. Made from fine merino yarns, and heavily milled and - finished with a dress face. It has a velvety feel and a silky gloss. A 90-in. in the loom gives 56-in. finished. One quality is made 32 X 40 per inch, from 26 skeins warp and weft. Dyed black or indigo. Another type is made from West of England woollen yams in very wide widths, and shrunk during finish about 33 per cent. Woven 2 X 1 twill. Quality varies according to price. It is a superfine, smooth-faced and dense fabric, and considered the perfection in woollen materials. -
109 Bus
A cotton fabric, hand woven, and printed with hand blocks in Turkestan. Made narrow widths and several widths are sewn together for use as bedcovers. The cloth is used in the grey state. The designs are large, and imitate the Oriental rug patterns. -
110 Cafpa Silk
An English silk fabric of the 16th century. It was printed with hand blocks in colours. -
111 Calquier
A plain weave all silk fabric made in the Madras Presidency. Printed yarn was often used in the warp as well as grandelle yarns. -
112 Camayean
A very fine type of plain weave fabric of the georgette class. Known in the 17th century and described as made of " stuff resembling unbleached cotton." It was printed in large and elaborate designs. -
113 Ceylonette
An all-cotton fabric made as an imitation Ceylon is 36 in., 41-in., and 43-in. widths, about 60-ends 50 picks per inch, 20's to 24's warp and 10's to 14's weft. Dyed, white or printed. -

A plain weave cotton fabric woven in Orissa and Bengal, made about 64 X 64 per inch, 36's/40's, and printed in checks or plaids. -

120 Crepe Romaine
A very fine all-silk crepe cloth made with hard-twisted yarns about 13/15 denier. A 50-in. cloth gives 39/40-in. when finished. The weave is 2 X 2 matt. Both warp and weft are woven two right and two reverse twist. There are from 100 to 120 ends and 90 to 110 picks per inch. The fabric is generally piece-dyed and finished with 20 to 25 per cent weighting. A cheaper cloth is made with cotton warp and rayon weft and either plain, dyed or printed. It is used for cheap linings.
