Почему именно кухонная раковина фигурирует во фразе, которая стала столь популярной в Великобритании (everything but the kitchen sink или everything, including the kitchen sink — всё, кроме кухонной раковины, или всё, включая кухонную раковину), не совсем понятно. Сейчас выражение everything but/ except the kitchen sink означает абсолютно всё, что только можно вообразить: You will have to leave here tomorrow. Pack everything except the kitchen sink. -
