сокр. ГАМКgamma-aminobutyric acid (сокр. GABA)[греч. gamma — третья буква греч. алфавита, обозначение одного из состояний вещества; англ. amino — группа NH2, от ammonia — аммиак, сокр. от лат. sal ammoniacus — соль Аммона, нашатырь]химическое соединение (HOOCH2CH2CH2NH2), одна из форм аминомасляной кислоты (см. аминомасляная кислота), обладающая свойством нейромедиатора (см. нейромедиатор). С низкой активностью Г.-а.к. связывают генерализованное тревожное расстройство. Г.-а.к. оказывает тормозящее действие на нервную активность, что, по-видимому, связано с влиянием на проницаемость биологических мембран. Относится к фармакологической группе ноотропов (нейрометаболических стимуляторов), используется при лечении сосудистых заболеваний головного мозга и их осложнениях, церебрально-сосудистых энцефалопатиях, депрессиях, судорожном синдроме и др.
