שְׁמַט, שְׁמֵיטch. sam(שמט kasher), 1) to loosen, detach, break loose, take away. Targ. Y. Lev. 14:40 (h. text חלץ). Ib. 43. Targ. II Esth. 3:8.Ned.48b דהיה שָׁמֵיטוכ׳ who was in the habit of stealing flax balls. B.
