1915-1991Actor, trabajo con Orson Welles en la radio, el teatro y el cine, colaborando en las primeras peliculas del peculiar actor-director, entre ellas la mitica Ciudadano Kane (Citizen Kane, 1941). Como director, recibio unanimes elogios por su Al Capone (1959) y, en menor medida, por Pay or Die (1961). Sus dos westerns (el primero de ellos supuso su debut como realizador) son, simplemente, correctos, mejor el primero que el segundo.
