Употребление этих выражений зависело от степени близости отношений между корреспондентами. Многие из этих вариантов исчезли из современной переписки. Раньше в Англии издавали книги, откуда можно было узнать, как правильно обращаться к директору школы, архиепископу, врачу, члену парламента и т. п. Сейчас yours truly шутливо означает «я»:And who cleared up the mess after the party? Yours truly! — И кто же, по-твоему, привёл всё в порядок после вечеринки? Ваш покорный слуга!
