103 Wilson, Woodrow
[ˊwɪlsǝn] [ˊwudrǝu] Вильсон, Вудро (1856—1924), 28- й президент США (1913—21), от Дем. партии. В 1902—10 гг. был президентом Принстонского университета, затем губернатором штата Нью-Джерси. Президентом США избирался дважды. Пытался не допустить вступления США в мировую войну; кампания по его переизбранию в 1916 проходила под лозунгом «Он уберёг нас от войны» [‘He kept us out of war’]. После вступления США в войну в 1917 Вильсон заявил: «Мир должен быть безопасным для демократии» [*democracy, the world must be made safe for]. В январе 1918 выдвинул программу мира — так наз. «Четырнадцать пунктов» [*‘Fourteen Points’]. Выступил инициатором создания Лиги Наций [League of Nations, The] и тяжело переживал решение Сената США о запрещении вступать в неё. Разъезжая по стране, выступал с речами, пытаясь убедить общественность в необходимости вступления США в Лигу Наций. Во время одной из таких поездок перенёс инфаркт и вскоре умер. Комитет Уильсона
Комитет под председательством Х. Уильсона, образованный в Великобритании в январе 1977 г. для проверки деятельности финансовых учреждений. Доклад Комитета был представлен в 1980 г. и содер жал как подробное описание структуры финансовой системы Великобритании, так и обзор основных тенденций ее развития. В докладе говорилось, что главным сдерживающим фактором ин вестиций в экономику страны стала стоимость капитала относительно ожидаемой доходности. Комитет рекомендовал устранить или смягчить влияние на функционирование финансовой системы таких факторов, как неуправляемая инфляция и неэффективные меры государственной денежно-кредитной политики.
