(in Rücksicht auf eine Tatsache, auf Veranlassung von etwas, z.B. legis ergo). – pro (vermöge, im Verhältnis zu, z.B. alqm pro eius suavitate [wegenseines angenehmen Umgangs] amare). – prae (vor, bezeichnet die hindernde Ursache, daher nur in Sätzen, die eine Negation enthalten, z.B. prae strepitu vix audiri). – Häufig drücken die Lateiner auch die bewegende oder bewirkende Ursache durch den bloßen Ablativ aus (z.B. aetate [wegen des A.] inutilis ad arma), densie jedoch gernmit einem Partizip wie motus (bewogen), ductus od. inductus (geleitet od. verleitet), incitatus (angeregt), inflammatus (entflammt), captus (eingenommen), impeditus (verhindert, z.B. morbo impeditus [wegen Kr.] bello interesse non potuit) verbinden. – meinet-, deinetwegen etc., meā, tuā causā; meo, tuo nomine. – Zuw. steht im Lateinischen für unser »wegen« auch der bloße Genet., z.B. Untersuchung wegen etwas, iudicium de alqa re u. bl. alcis rei; quaestio de alqa re und bloß alcis rei: ein Bündnis, Vertrag wegen etwas, foedus alcis rei (z.B. pacis). – Ebenso bei den Verben »klagen, anklagen, verdammen«, w. s. – Endlich steht das dem bei »wegen« stehenden Substantiv entsprechende Adjektiv, z.B. die Beschuldigung wegen Paros, crimen Parium: die Anklage wegen des Weins, crimen vinarium: die Erwartung wegen Korsiniums, exspectatio Corfiniensis.
