Unix est un système d’exploitation multitâches et multi-utilisateurs souvent utilisé dans la communauté universitaire et scientifique. Il est créé en 1969 dans les laboratoires de Bell par Ken Thompson et Dennis Ritchie. Il devient ensuite un freeware (gratuiciel) très largement utilisé et donnant lieu à de nombreux produits dérivés, le plus connu étant Linux, un système d’exploitation pour ordinateur personnel. -
