1907-2000Este magnifico realizador, nacido en Nueva York, empieza en el departamento de montaje de la Mas cot en 1935, de donde pasa a la Universal siempre en el mismo cometido, para terminar dirigiendo su primer largometraje dos anos despues. Ya en la primera etapa de su carrera como director muestra cualidades importantes como creador de universos visuales, logrando algun magnifico filme como The Invisible Ghost (1940), convencional muestra de ci ne de terror con Bela Lugosi como protagonista, que el talento de Lewis transforma en un filme me morable por muchos conceptos. Boss of Hang town Mesa, por su parte, es mucho mas que una pelicula de serie, rodada a la mayor gloria de Johnny Mack Brown. Aunque en esta primera etapa abundan tambien las obras poco distinguidas, el segundo periodo de la trayectoria profesional de Lewis, que podemos situar cronologicamente entre 1945 y 1958, abunda en obras maestras o que se acercan a esa calificacion. Empezamos con la magnifica My Name Is Julia Ross, para seguir con las esplendidas Relato criminal (The Undercover Man, 1949), El demonio de las armas (Gun Crazy, 1950) y Agente especial (The Big Combo, 1955), por citar solo algunas, ejemplos se neros de cine negro. Los westerns de esta segunda etapa son, todos ellos, de primer nivel, especialmente A Lawless Street y Terror in a Texas Town, filme modelico con el que Lewis cierra una estimulante filmografia. 1911Procedente del teatro, donde trabaja como bailarin y cantante, se incorpora a Hollywood a finales de los 40, dando el salto a la direccion a comienzos de la decada siguiente. Ejemplo de profesional honrado y de cierta calidad, su filmografia, no demasiado extensa, es modelica. Capaz de revalorizar cualquier guion que se pusiera a su cuidado, solo estropea un poco su intachable carrera como director en los ultimos tiempos, en que tal vez la influencia de la television, tal vez cierta fatiga creativa, le reducen a la condicion de director rutinario. Hombre de Univer sal, siempre se recordaran la modelica Atraco sin huellas (Six Bridges to Cross, 1955) y El hombre de las mil caras (Man of a Thousand Faces, 1957), biopic de indudable calidad, con un histrionico pero estupendo James Cagney. A finales de los anos 40 se convierte en realizador de television, para la que dirige centenares de episodios de series mas o menos populares. En ocasiones se enfrenta a largometrajes para la gran pantalla, hasta un total de nueve con acreditacion, mas unos pocos en los que no consigue figurar en los titulos de credito. 1889-1967Realizador poco acreditado, a pesar de que su filmografia supera los cincuenta titulos entre los comienzos del sonoro y finales de los anos 40. En su filmografia, compuesta casi exclusivamente por productos de genero, sin mas, un filme de la serie Mr. Moto y otro de la serie Charlie Chan. Tinling dedica poca atencion al western, genero en el que se mueve dentro de la mas estricta vulgaridad. Trabaja practicamente siempre para la Fox.The Last Trail (La ultima senda). 1933. 59 minutos. Amondongar, es hacer el «Xamartín», es industriar los chorizos y las morcillas, y demás cosas que se hacen cuando llega la matanza de los cerdos. Estos son estayáus (descuartizados) y entonces la mondongueira (maestra en xamartinus) trabaja con las carnes descuartizadas en la elaboración de los sabrosos chorizinos de aldea. En los tiempos pasados había muchas mondongueiras, pero buenas muy pocas, y que es muy difícil darle con el punto en tous sous adubexus (en todos sus adobados) que precisan los embutidos, para lograr un buen xamartín, que se conserve en perfectas condiciones de sabor y sin perderse durante todo el año. Así pues, una vez estacháu 'l guchu (descuartizado el cerdo) la mondongueira aparta las mexores tayáes (mejores tajadas), con las que después de industriados todos los embutidos, fabrica los namáus xuanes ou andótchas (las tripas más gruesas del cerdo rellenas con la mejor carne), que son destinadas a las grandes solemnidades por así llamarlo, tales como fiestas, convites, otras veces eran regaladas a médicos, veterinarios, abogados, etc., etc. Las mondongueiras de los tiempos d'endenantes enxamás cobraben un perru per faer lus xamartinus, per que 'l non faelu, arrabucaben mexores ya más llargues ganancies, perque dabanyes pel sou trabayu 'n poucu de ca couxa del gochu, una morciétcha, un dolquín de churizu, 'n bon torreznu de toicín, fégadus, tayaúques, etc., etc. (Las mondongueiras de antaño, jamás cobraban dineros por industriar los samartinus, porque al no hacerlo, se llevaban mejores y más largas ganancias, pues les daban por su trabajo un poco de cada cosa del cerdo, tales como una morcilla, una rueda de chorizos, un buen pedazo de tocino, los hígados, tajadas, etc., etc.).Primer Diccionario Enciclopédicu de la Llingua Asturiana > amondongar

Maereiru, maderero, persona que trabaja en la madera. Lo mismo fui maderero o serrador que viene a ser parecido. Empecé a trabajar cuando tenía doce o trece años, me recuerdo que me pagaban nueve pesetas diarias, disdi 'l albiar el díe fasta la sou tapecíe (desde que amanecía hasta que la noche llegaba), puedo asegurar que he tenido el mejor maestro xerrador d'Asturies, el más duro, el más repugnante, un hombre que durante el trabajo no hablaba nada más que de cuando se relacionara con él, no olvidare jamás que tanto a mí como a un hijo de él llamado Mual que componíamos el trío en el trabajo, nos trataba Nelín que era su padre, lo mismo que si fuésemos dos esclavos, muchas veces el condenado nus untaba 'l focicu conún faticáu d'ostiazus, ya nun yera desmediu cundu nus falagaba les mexiétches, pos apurríanus a entrambus cuaxi xempre lus mesmus ostiazus. (Nos azotaba el rostro con algunas tortas o castañazos, y no desacompasaba nunca cuando nos halagaba a ostiazos nuestras mejillas, pus nos daba casi siempre a los dos por igual los mismos tortazos). Mi vida durante varios años, hasta que me marché temporalmente de mi aldina deslizó trabajando siempre con este condenado paisano y con otros maderaros de la comarca, menos el mes de la yerbe, pues en este mes yo ganaba mucho más de yerbeiru en cualquier caseríu, que trabajando dos meses a la madera. Les voy a contar ahora un caso que nos sucedió a Muel y a mi, cuando ya éramos mozacones que ya cortexábamus. Sucedió un domingo que estábamos serrando madera en un castañéu de la nuexa aldina, seria como a las cinco de la tarde, y nosotros queríamos marchar para ir a cortejar a un pueblo de Quiros donde Muel y yo teníamos mozuca el caso fue que él nos dijo que nos dejaría marchar cuando entalleráramos una rolla que tenía un metro de batalla (grueso) en el serradero. Conformes nosotros entre los tres trabajamos en duro con palancas y tirones de arreventamiento, hasta que al fin conseguimos poner aquella enorme rolla de castaño de más de mil kilos de peso encima del aserradero lista para serrarla. Entonces él nos dijo que para cortejar no se necesitaba mucho tiempo si se sabía aprovechar, y que como todavía era céu, que íbamos a serrar un poco por la rolla, que era un trabajo que teníamos adelantado para mañana. Así pues que sin urniar pallabra (decir palabra) dimos comienzo a serrar por aquella rolla, él encima de ella y nosotros abajo y mientras que él desde arriba nos dominaba avasalladoramente y quizás riéndose para sus adentros, nosotros desde abajo muy silenciosamente a la par que trabajábamos en el durísimo trabajo de tirar por la sierra estábamos madurando la forma de deshacernos de él para poder marcharnos, porque por el sol, ya que reloj no teníamos, nos parecía que ya era. bastante tarde. Así pues, los tres estabamos unidos a la sierra, Muel y yo cogidos a la manilla de abajo y Nelín encima de la rolla asido a la manilla de arriba, cuando de golpe nosotros llancamus (plantamos) la sierra a enxecu (clavamos y ferramos de repente) a la par que tirábamos por ella con gran rapidez hacia detrás, con este movimiento rápido e inesperado, cogimos desprevenido a Nelín, que no le dio tiempo a esquivar el golpe que le venía encima, y la manilla de arriba a la cual él estaba asido no con mucha fuerza, le vino con duro golpe a machacar su frente y medio aturdido se desplomo desde lo alto de la rolla hasta el suelo del aserradero, y bien por casualidad o porque su gran agilidad lo buscara, cayo encima de su hijo Muel, al que asiendo con una mano con fuerza, con la otra de apoderó del moqueteiru (instrumento de madera para asegurar la cuña de la manilla inferior de la sierra, de casi un kilo de peso y unos treinta centímetros de largo) y con grande saña y fuerza comenzó a darle palos, y yo que sabía que pronto iba a recibir los mismos, xebreme fuyendu en aburiéxa galamiada del lleu d'echus (me marche huyendo a las carreras del lado de ellos), pero no llevaría andados unos metros cuando sentí en una pierna un golpetazo fuerte que no me privo de seguir corriendo pero cojeando lleno de dolor y con menos fuerza, ya que vi a Muel traspasarme como alma que lleva el diablo y sangrando por la cabeza. El caso fuera, que Nelín al ver como yo se le escapaba me lanzo el condenado moqueteiru con tal acierto y fuerza que me dejó algo cojo durante alguno días.
