Более ранней формой выражения to fight tooth and nail являлось выражение to fight with tooth and nail («драться зубом и ногтем»), но даже в XVI в. бороться не на жизнь, а на смерть).She is very proud of her son. She will fight tooth and nail to make sure that he gets into the very best university.
