•CHOICE OF WORDS:(1.) Русским "ждать, ожидать" в английском языке соответствуют два различных глагола: to wait for smb ( smth) и to expect smb ( smth). To expect smb, smth I'll expect you at exactly ten I'm expecting a letter from him В отличие от to expect, английское to wait for smb, smth подчеркивает затягивание, задержку, при которой ожидаемое действие описывается, как наступающее слишком поздно: I had to wait 20 minutes for the bus this morning мне пришлось ждать/я прождал автобуса двадцать минут; wait a minute, I'm not ready yet подождите минутку, я еще не готов. (2.) Глагол to expect 2. I didn't expect you to come so soon (3.) See so adv; USAGE (1.). -
