Эта тема позволяет Кормену смешивать черный юмор, тревожную атмосферу и экстравагантность: коктейль, хорошо отражающий (несмотря на многочисленные недостатки и натяжки сценария) разносторонние грани его таланта. Строгий, поистине бесценный стиль игры Рея Милленда придает некоторым сценам невероятную мощь и служит любопытным противовесом вычурным эксцессам Винсента Прайса, играющего в остальных 7 картинах цикла.
