(1895-1972) Уилсон, ЭдмундПублицист, литературовед, прозаик. Учился в Принстонском университете [ Princeton University], с 1913 был близким другом Ф. С. Фицджералда [ Fitzgerald, Francis Scott Key], редактировал его книги, после смерти писателя подготовил к печати его незаконченные работы. Во время первой мировой войны служил в разведке. Работал в журналах "Вэнити фэр" [ Vanity Fair] (1920-21), "Нью рипаблик" [ New Republic, The] (1926-31), "Нью-Йоркер" [ New Yorker, The] (1944-48). В наиболее известной литературоведческой работе "Замок Акселя" ["Axel's Castle"] (1931) прослеживает корни символизма. В 1920-30-е участвовал в дискуссии о радикальных политических движениях, написал книгу очерков о лидерах большевиков "На Финляндский вокзал" ["To the Finland Station"] (1940). В известной книге "Свитки Мертвого моря" ["The Dead Sea Scrolls"] (1955) трактовал находки археологов на Ближнем Востоке как подтверждение реальности библейских событий. Известна также его антология американской литературы XIX-XX вв. "Драма узнавания" ["The Shock of Recognition"] (1943). В 1950-60-е написал несколько романов и пьес.
