1910-1951Procedente del teatro, llega a Hollywood en 1935 contratado por Warner Bros. En 1937 pasa a MGM, donde empieza como ayudante de direccion. Muere en 1951, a los 41 anos, despues de una carrera relativamente breve y no demasiado brillante. Fue el director favorito del comico Red Skelton, para el que dirigio, sin acreditar, A Southern Yankee. En un par de ocasiones trabajo con la pareja comica formada por Bud Abbott y Lou Costello.
