Филиал Международного банка реконструкции и развития (international Bank of Reconstruction and Development), создан в 1956 г. для оказания помощи частным инвестиционным проектам. Хотя корпорация и банк как юридически, так и финансово являются самостоятельными организациями, корпорация может занимать у банка средства для последующего предоставления их частным инвесторам. Штаб-квартира корпорации находится в Вашингтоне. Ее значение возросло в 1980-е гг. по мере развития кризиса задолженности и вызванной им ориентации на частный сектор.
