Apaigüestias, son apariciones, alucinaciones, esta palabra encierra un sugestivo campo de creencias en fantasmas, o ánimas condenadas y también encierra las creencias mitológicas, con todas sus historias y leyendas descabelladas o quizás ciertas, pues este mundo nuestro no se hizo de la Nada, y desde el más sabio de los humanos hasta el más ignorante, llevamos muy dentro de nuestra alma o espíritu, una lejana o cercana creencia en algo que existe «Sobrenatural», que tras la muerte nos ha de premiar o castigar, con firme exactitud en todas nuestras obras buenas y malas que hemos hecho. Ahora les contaré una historia, o leyenda, que sucedió en una de mis aldeas hace ya muchos, muchísimos años, y que yo he escuchado cuando era pequeño, de lengua de una tía abuela mía, que en aquel acaecer con más de cien años de existencia encima de su cuerpo, aún tenía arreos para trabajar en sus tierras como cualquier persona que bien lo hiciere. «MARÍA LA XANTINA» Casárase María la hija del tío Jacinto, muchacha pequeña de estatura, pero grande de hermosura y de exquisitos sentimientos, con Amalio el del Aldexuxán (Aldea de Susana), joven que no tenía de bueno nada más que el ser un mozarrón como un carbayu (roble) y ser su padre el más rico y poderoso vaqueiru de todos aquellos contornos. Tal caxoriu (casorio) fue amañucáu (preparado), por Rexina la Porricona (Regina la Desnuda), que recibiera del padre del novio por haber hecho tal arreglo, un xaretal d'ablanus (pequeño prado muy cuesto plantado de avellanos). Diremos para comprender mejor esta historia, que la Porricona, era una mujer que gozaba de grande fama en toda aquella rica comarca, porque era la esposa de Lláurianu 'l Llóndrigu (Laureano la Nutria), porque era éste un hábil cazador de estos finos animales de ricas pieles, que de aquella infestaban los regueirus (torrentes) de todas las montañas y el río que cruzaba el fértil valle. También era el Llóndrigu un experto en curar todos los males que tuviesen las personas y animales, por tal razón aquel matrimonio, al decir de muchos vecinos, era una verdadera bendición del mismo cielo, cosa que aprovechaba la Porricona, p'esquicionar al sou antoxu nus tibeirus quei dexaben fatáus de bétchaes ganancies. (Para hacer cuanto se le antojase con sus arreglos, negocios, líos, etc., que le dejaban siempre muchas y ricas ganancias). La aldea de Aldexuxán estaba compuesta por poco más de una docena de vecinos, que todos ellos eran familiares entre si. No voy a detenerme a narrar los diferentes pormenores de la historia como me fueron contados a mí, simplemente me ceñiré a un hecho concreto, relacionado con la mitología o apaigüestias fantasmales o milagrosas, ancestrales creencias, de las melgueras gentes de mi embrujadora Tierrina. Sobre la aldea de Aldexuxán había pesado desde siempre un fatídico malificio, haciendo que sus gentes siendo las más ricas de la fértil comarca, no fuesen tan felices como todos los demás eran, porque jamás en toda su historia había nacido una mujer en ella. Las mujeres que se casaban con los hombres de la aldea de Aldexuxán, se condenaban a no poder tener jamás una hija, y por todo lo contrario, alumbraban varones fuertes y sanos, que se convertían cuando llegaban a la mocedad, en los mozos más esbeltos y fornidos de toda la comarca. Pero a pesar de ser tan buenos mozos, y todos ellos vaqueirus ricos, gozaban de muy escasas simpatías entre las mozas casaderas, por tal razón, muchos no lograban casarse, y cuando alguno lo hacía, casi siempre mediaba un «arreglo» de por medio. —Así, el padre de Amalio se puso al habla con la Porricona, para que arreglase la boda de su hijo con Mariela, muchacha virginal y encantadora, de la que estaba enamorado ciegamente su hijo. Prometiéndole a la Porricona si lo conseguía, que él le daría como favor, el xaretal de Riuscuru, (pradín de Río Oscuro), que lindaba con otra finca que ella tenía. Cuando Mariela supo por sus padres, que estaba destinada para ser la mujer de Amalio el de Aldexuxan, una grande tristeza se adueñó de su alma, que le robó su alegría, y las francas y felices sonrisas que en todo instante su espíritu alumbraba. Y así de apenada todos los días se le veía por su aldea, con sus hermosos ojos siempre enrojecidos por la quemante caricia de sus lágrimas, sin encontrar el consuelo que le devolviese aquella felicidad que antes gozara. Gran devota de la Virgen de la aldea habla sido siempre Mariela, con la que con una fe desmedida siempre oracionaba y hablaba, y así de esta manera, entre profundos y dolorosos suspiros, y lágrimas torrenciales que manaban de su desespero, el día antes de su boda, con la Santina de su aldea así dialogaba: —Virxencina melgueira, qu'achorandu 'l tou cháu venu, ameruxá d'un dollor que m'esfáe pel tristeyáu miou alma, mamplená d'un miéu que d'afechu, encuandiona toa l'allegría qu'endenantes en miou espíritu per uquier afroriaba. (Virgencita dulce y preciosa, que llorando a tu lado vengo, plagada de un dolor que me deshace por triste toda mi alma, rebosante de un miedo que en toda su extensión entierra la alegría que antes en mi espíritu por donde quiera afloraba). —Xantina 'l miou alma, que tous lus amalexius encantexas, nun me faigas xufrire, pos nun queru caxame sen amore per fuercia, you nun queru isi muzu que de güenu nun peca, y'endenantes de dir xuntua d'él a l’ilexa, más quixera morreme, aforcá conun rixu que m'añuede 'l gaznatu ya me faiga en morrida. Ya tal couxa fairéla, Xantiquina 'l miou alma, se deximesme agora, ya me dexes solina, nel atayu miou pena, qu'en llocura m'entrema. (Santiquina de mi alma, que todos los males si tu quieres arreglas, no me hagas sufrir, pues no quiero casarme sin amor y por fuerza, yo no quiero ese mozo que de bueno no peca, y antes de ir junto de él a la iglesia, más quisiera morirme, ahorcada con una cuerda, que me anude mi cuello, y me haga en ser muerta. Y tal cosa he de hacer, Santiquina mi alma, si me olvidas ahora, y me dejas muy sola, en el atajo de mi pena, que a la locura me lleva). Algo muy hermoso le contestaría la Virgen a Mariela, porque otra vez se le volvió a ver llena de sana y feliz alegría, quizás con más fuerza que jamás tuviera. Y así de contenta, cariñosa y feliz, ante la misma Santina que su pena esfixera (deshiciera), al siguiente día en la iglesia se casaba con el vaqueiru Amalio. El día de su boda, fue un domingo del mes de mayo, bañado por la luz del sol que todo lo alumbraba y lo erradiaba de vida, y como era domingo, era fiesta en la aldea, el jilguero cantaba y el malvís silbiotaba y las gentes humildes con paxiétchus de festa (trajes de fiesta), a la boda acudían de la dulce Mariela, la más hermosa moza que la aldea tenía. La que viétchus ya xóvenes (viejos y jóvenes), grande y puro cariño hacia ella sentían. Cuando todos estaban fundidos en sus rezos y el buen cura casaba a la virgen Mariela, se escuchó como un trueno, muy cercano y enorme, muy profundo y tenebroso, que hizo palidecer de miedo a muchas gentes del festejo. ¡Un castigo del cielo, murmuraban las viejas, ha de mandarnos Dios, por casar a esta santa, con un fíu (hijo) de la aldea en poder del demonio! Aquel confuso ruido que a las gentes atemorizara, por ser dadas a irse a los Lares Divinos, no era tal trueno que en el aire quedara sin dejar un vestigio, pues había sido un castigo, y todos sobrecogidos pensaron, que el Hacedor andaba en aquel cataclismo. Pues el xaretal d'ablanus (el prado de avellanos) que el padre de Amalio le regalara a la Porrica, por conseguir a Mariela como mujer de su hijo, argaxárase per tous lus cháus, escuatramundiánduxe 'n fondigouxes cuandies, dou s'allacaben lus ablanus esgazáus d'afechu, con lus raigones amirandu 'l cielu, lu mesmu que se dangún terremetu, bramara nel ventrón d'aquel xareteiru, dexándulu tan llabráu y'esfechu, comu 'n güertiquín de pataques que fora afocicáu per una cabaná de goches paridiegues. (Partiérase, corriérase por todos sus lados, deshaciéndose el prado entero en profundas ollas, donde se enterraban los avellanos del todo rotos, con sus retorcidas raíces mirando al cielo, lo mismo que si un terremoto hiciera explosión en el vientre de aquel prado, dejándole tan despedazado, como un pequeño huerto de sembradas patatas, que hubiese sido hocicado por una manada de cerdas paridas). Sin embargo, tan insólito acontecimiento pasados los primeros momentos, no restó a la fiesta la sana alegría, que todos disfrutaban en la boda de la querida Mariela, pues tras de fartase tous fasta 'l rutiar de lus bunus manxares qu'achindi per uquier topábenxe, (pues tras de hartarse todos hasta dejarlo de sobra, de los buenos manjares que allí por todas partes había), se enguedechóu 'l baítche qu'en toes les bodes les xentes encalducaben (se enredó el baile que en todas las bodas las gentes hacían), fechu per la múxica xaraneira y'allegre del pandeiru ya la gaita, e axín tóus enlloquecíus de gouzu danciarun entexuntus ya hermenáus fasta 'l mesmu albiare, xeitu nel qu'entamangarun folixouxa engarradiétcha de galgazus, ente dus mozacus del chugar de Mariela, ya lus rapazones de l'aldeina d'Aldexuxan. (Hecho por la música jaranera y alegre de la pandereta y la gaita, y así todos enloquecidos de gozo, bailaron entrejuntos y hermanados hasta que llegó el amanecer, lugar que prepararon una sonada pelea de estacazos, entre los mozos de la aldea de Mariela, y los mozarrones de la aldeina de Susana). Tal pelea fue originada por los desmedidos insultos despreciativos dirigidos a los mozos de Aldexuxan, por los de la aldea de Mariela, asegurándoles que no llevarían a la santina Mariela a vivir con ellos a su aldea maldita, donde jamás había nacido ni una sola mujer, por la causa de ser todos hijos del mismo diablo. Tras de la feroz pelea, donde no sucedieron achuquinamientos (muertes) por mor de las sabias intervenciones de los ancianos de entrambas aldeas, el novio, sulfurado y ensangrentado por la titánica lucha desarrollada, en aquel mismo amanecer acompañado de todos sus parientes, se llevó a Mariela que no hizo ni la mínima negativa, y no permitió que recibiese de sus padres ni el valor de una cuyar (cuchara) de cuanto a ella le perteneciese. —Acuétchula d'un reflundión el magotón d'Amaliu a la felliz ya xonriyente Mariela, ya namái conel paxiétchu puestu, escarranquetóula d'enría la xiétcha pintureira del sou cabatchu, ya despós, conun blincu de corzu puenxuse el tres d'echa, ya cudiáu per tous sous vecinus que yeren tous parentela, xebrárunse d'aquel chugar, esnalandu nel aire ixuxus d'allegría, axenitáus nus sous cabatchus axalbaxáus lu mesmu qu' echus ya lleldáus dientru d'una ñatural ya roxurosa allegría. (Asió de un rápido tirón el bruto de Amalio a la feliz y sonriente Mariela, y nada más que con la ropa que llevaba puesta, la ajinetó encima de la pinturera silla de su caballo, y después, con un salto de corzo púsose él detrás de ella, y escoltado por sus vecinos que eran todos parentela, se marchó de aquel lugar lanzando al viento ijujús de alegría, ajinetados todos en sus caballos asalvajados lo mismo que ellos eran, y crecidos dentro de una natural y enloquecedora alegría). La cariñosa bondad, y la fértil felicidad y alegría que en todo momento emanaba torrencialmente de la encantadora Mariela, muy pronto cautivó y contagió a todas las gentes del Aldexuxan, pequenos y grandes, con tal frenesí llegaron a quererla, a adorarla y mimarla, lo mismo que si se tratara de un ser sobrenatural, que había llegado a la aldea para alegrarles a todos sus vidas. Durante el tiempo de su preñez, era Mariela atendida en todo momento por las mujeres de la aldea, y los hombres y los niños, estaban más pendientes de ella, que de sus trabajos y sus juegos, siempre le traían del campo flores y variedad de frutos, y todos al mirarse en sus encantadores ojos, la felicidad y el gozo en sus espíritus advertían. Era Mariela para todos, algo que ni tan siquiera habían soñado que existiera. Al Aldexuxan habían llegado de sus aldeas todas las mujeres que la cuidaban y mimaban y ninguna de ellas jamás había sido feliz ni encontrado la alegría en su espíritu en aquel lugar al que muy pocas de ellas habían llegado por su propia voluntad. Sin embargo al mirarse en los resplandecientes ojos de Mariela, al sentir el hado misterioso que en todo instante rezumía de su ser, llegaba a sus entrañas por primera vez raudales de gozo y alegría, que las llenaba de felicidad, y de una dicha embriagadora y sublime. Por eso entre ellas silenciosa y secretamente empezaban a decir que Mariela era divina, misteriosa y buena, y que en cualquier momento el cielo la llevaría, y dejaría a la aldea tan llena de tristeza y pena como antes lo estuviera. —Xabela la muyer d'Antón el Curuxu, que yera la que mexor amañaba lus dellicáus fatiquinus pa lus guaxinus cabantes de ñacer, ya le fixera tous lus paxiétchinus y'escarpinacus que ñecexitare 'l melgueiru nenin que traxera 'l mundiu cundu betchara la xantina Mariela. (Isabel la esposa de Antón el Buho que era la que mejor hacía los delicados ropajes propios para los niños recién nacidos, ya había industriado todos los trajecitos, calzas y demás vestiduras, que necesitase el dulce niño que trajese al mundo cuando hiciese su alumbramiento la santina de Mariela). —Tamién Xacintu 'l Utre que yera abondu curioxu pa carpinteirar, fixera 'n trubiétchu con maera de ñocéu, qu'al falar de toes les xentes d'Aldexuxan, nin el más empericotáu de tous lus nenus ñacíus ya cuaxi, cuaxi 'n per ñacere, xamás de lus xamaxes oitre mexor nun hubiés d'aquién lu fixera. (También Jacinto el Aguila que era muy mañoso para hacer de carpintero, hiciera una cuna de madera de nogal, que al hablar de todas las gentes del Aldexuxan, ni el más afamado, ni suertudo niño nacido, ni casi, casi de los aún no nacidos, jamás de los jamases otra mejor no hubiese quién se la hiciera). Todo estaba preparado para el día que el angelín a la luz amaneciera, y todos en la aldea, desde su madre hasta el más inocente de los pequeños que por aquellos montes correteare, esperaban ilusionados la venida de aquel inocente ser, fruto de las entrañas de quien les había a todos sembrado en sus espíritus la dicha y la alegría, hasta ya le habían elegido los padrinos y hasta el mismo nombre que debía llevar, el asunto era que naciese dentro del tiempo natural, y que no le trajese ningún amolexíu (mal) a la santina Mariela. Como todo en la vida tiene su tiempo de espera, y todo cuanto se espera si atañe a los procesos naturales llega, así vino el momento del alumbramiento de Mariela. Fue una mañana de los principios de la primavera, cuando todos los árboles y las plantas despertaban jubilosos y en silencio a la floreciente vida donde comenzaban, los malvises y jilgueros volvían a cantar alegres y bulliciosos, tras la mudez que les infligiera el frío y nevado invierno, fue aquella luminosa y primaveral mañana cuando todas las gentes de la aldea, se reunían contentas y felices a la par que en sus interiores algo preocupadas y temerosas, como si presintieran que algo irremediable le habría de ocurrir a la santina Mariela. Digo que todos reunidos en la casa de Mariela, anhelantes esperaban tan natural y querido acontecer. Algunas mujeres llenas de firmes creencias, rezaban sin descanso, pidiéndole al Faidor (Hacedor) y a sus santos más allegados, que la feliz nueva se alumbrara por los cauces naturales, y que Mariela no cosechara arduos sufrimientos. Otras más mañosas en tales menesteres, parteaban ilusionadas y eficientes, en cuantos cometidos quce en tal proceso se requieren. Al fin, de las entrañas de la parturienta, brotó la vida, y todas las gentes al presenciar aquella recién nacida criatura, doblaron sus rodillas en el suelo, y una oración de gracia en el cielo pusieron, dentro de la gran dicha y alegría que jamás sintieron. Porque por primera vez en toda la historia de la aldea del Aldexuxan, había nacido una niña, una hermosa niña que rompía con su divino milagro, el maléfico castigo que les había acompañado siempre. Tal milagroso acontecer, alborozó a los vecinos del Aldexuxan en tal altura, que por unos instantes se olvidaron de la moribunda Mariela, y cuando al fin Isabela enloquecida por la alegría que le hacía caminar por el incansable sendero de la dicha, digo que Isabela se dirigió respetuosa y venerativamente hacia Mariela, y besándola con gran cariño en su frente radiante de felicidad le decía, que el maleficio que pesaba sobre las gentes de la aldea, de no haber tenido jamás una mujer, una niña, ella porque era una santina, lo había roto al alumbrar aquella preciosa criatura, que era para todos los seres del Aldexuxan el fin del conxuru (conjuro) que desde siempre sobre todos pesaba. La moribunda Mariela, con su sonrisa encantadora siempre pendiente de sus labios, y una luz misteriosa y hechicera que en todo momento de sus bellos ojos se desprendía, les hizo comprender a los allí reunidos, que eran todas las gentes del Aldexuxan, que era Mariela algo que pertenecía a la divinidad de lo desconocido, y que no podría morar entre ellos, nada más que con su espíritu. Yo no puedo afirmar si esta narración es una historia, una leyenda o quizás un mito, sólo se decir, que mi tía abuela aseguraba cuando me la contó, que era tan cierto como que ella se tenía que murrer (morir). También recuerdo cuando yo era un guaxiquín (muy pequeño), haber escuchado decir a las más viejas de estas aldeas, aconxexandu (aconsejando) a las mujeres que teniendo varios hijos varones, ellas querían tener una niña y no lograban alcanzar tal deseo. Atarabazar es cuando las leches se cuajan, pero no precisamente la leche entera, quiero decir, la leche que no ha sido privada de sus natas o grasas, ya que cuando esto sucede, se denomina lleichi cuátcha (leche cuajada). Pero se llama tarabazá a la leche que con anterioridad ha sido mazá (batida), con el fin de extraerle la manteca. Para mazar el lleiche (sacarle la manteca a la leche), en los tiempos d'endenantes se hacía por medio de dos procedimientos en mis aldeas. Uno era usando las caramañolas ou camtimples (lecheras) y el otro el más ancestral, dentro de unos odres hechos con el pelleyu (pellejo) de corderos o cabritos, denominados butiétchus, donde se introducía la leche dentro de ellos, se hinchaban de aire y luego se movía el butiétchu siempre en la misma dirección hasta que se le arrancaba la manteca a la leche. Más tarde esa leche mazá escosá de manteiga cundu chegaba ‘l cuátchu yera cundu se nomaba chétche tarabazá. (Batida y limpia de manteca, cuando llegaba a cuajar se le llamaba leche tarabazá). Esta leche tarabazá al decir de las gentes más antiguas de mis aldeas, que todas tenían algo de médicos, por ser éstos tan escasos e inalcanzables, cuento que decían mis gentes que la leche tarabazá era la bebida más sana y refrescante, capaz de curar por sí sola, tous lus amolexíus del ventrún ya 'l estómadu. (Todos los males del vientre y el estómago). Esta palabra me da pie para contarles muy someramente lo que hizo un tío mío, hermano de mi madre, una mañana que apremiado por su esposa, mazaba sudorosamente un butiétchu de leche. Llamábase mi tío que ya en la paz del Hacedor descansa, Manuel el Indiano, y a pesar de ser del todo analfabeto, sabía más letra que el propio Cervantes, y era más agudo que el panzudo Sancho. Más de catorce años había estado en La Argentina, y al fin como todo buen asturiano retornó a su querida aldea, cuando yo aun todavía no había nacido. Pero según mi madre, hizo mi tío la entrada triunfal en la aldeina dándoselas de indiano rico, y al parecer según se descubrió más tarde, no traía en su poder nada más que una pequeña cantidad de dinero que le había dado otro tío mío también hermano de mi madre, que éste sí que había hecho una caudalosa fortuna, criando ganado en un extenso rancho, que al decir de mi tío Manuel, era más grande que todo nuestro concejo junto. Rondaba los cuarenta años cuando mi tío, portando dos enormes maletas, una sonrisa amplia y prometedora, que no la haría por el bien que le habían rodado sus asuntos, sino tal vez por enseñar a propios y extraños, su fuerte y hermosa dentadura, donde se enseñoreaban una docena de relucientes dientes de oro que unido a su enorme reloj y su gruesa cadena de oro, le avalaban como indiano bétchau de cuartus. Muy posible mi tío, deduzco yo ahora, al comprender que en las américas no podía, o no sabía hacer la riqueza que había con tanto ahínco buscado, maduró en aquellas lejanas tierras la inteligente idea, de lograr conquistar en sus aldeas, alguna moza heredera de rica casería. Así pues, según mi madre, mi tío se paseaba y pavoneaba por toda la comarca, luciendo estupendos trajes de corte y moda muy americanos, a la par que hacía entrever con mucho disimulo, que poseía negocios en La Argentina, donde retornaría nada más que encontrase una linda muchacha que fuera de su agrado, para convertirla sin pérdida de tiempo en su esposa. Y como diñéiru chama 'l diñeiru (dinero llama al dinero) pronto mi tío lograba casarse con la moza más rica de la aldea, que era tal riqueza en aquellos tiempos, prados, tierras y ganados, cosas que hoy se encuentran en mis aldeas abandonados. Una vez casado el bueno de mi tío, volvía a inventarse otra historia, que era que la revolución que por aquella época se había formado en La Argentina, se apropiara de sus negocios y le habían dejado completamente sin nada. A partir de aquí poco a poco su esposa ayudaba abiertamente por su suegro que se veía en lenguas mofosas de las gentes y se consideraba que también había sido engañado, digo que entre hija y padre le fueron sometiendo y dominando, y aunque mi tío en principio intentó imponerse y hacer valer su papel de marido, de nada le sirvió, y tuvo que someterse a la tiranía continua a que le sometían su mujer y suegro, sino quería perder lo que tan hábilmente había cazado. Extenderme más en cosas de mi tío, seria fomentar una larga historia que no cuadra en este libro que ha nacido para diccionario, por eso retornaré a la mañana por mi presenciada, en que el bueno de mi tío mazaba la leche sudoroso y desesperado, atacado en todo instante por la continua riña de su esposa, que con la chingüa mexoriaba per él, lu mesmu que se fora un enllordiáu fatu. (Que con la lengua le hacía mucho daño al tratarle como si fuese un verdadero pingajo). Aquel día era lunes, y por lo tanto habla mercado como todas las semanas en la capital del concejo, a donde todas las aldeanas bajaban a vender los huevos, la manteca, los cuayaus (cuajados), etc., etc., y mercar a la vez los enreus (cosas) que se necesitaban para toda la semana. Ya era tarde y mi tía necesitaba aquella última manteca que mi tío con tanto trabajo estaba mazando, y como tardaba según mi tía más de la cuenta, empezó a insultarle de esta manera: —Entaina Manolu, ya deíxate de carpir, ya amazuca la lleiche con más priexa, perque paeme a mín que yes más ñatiu qu'un neniquín d'entamu. (Apúrate Manolo, déjate de protestar, de suspirar, de quejarte, y bate la leche con más prisa, porque me parece a mí, que eres más inútil que un niño de pecho). Nada le respondió mi tío, aunque seguía haciendo su trabajo maldiciendo y murmarando palabras que no entendía, pero otra vez volvió su esposa a la carga diciéndole: —Nun se xempre lu dixe you, que nun tenes llixa namái que pa xurniar trés el fuéu estingarraún nel escanu, ya p'encalducar mamplenáus de puches ya gavitus. (No si siempre lo he dicho yo, que no tienes fuerza, alma, etc., nada más que para estar dormitando detrás del fuego acostado en el escaño, y para hacer muchos razonamientos, protestas y cuentos sin ningún valor). Mi tío no le respondía a sus insultos y el pobre seguía mazando la leche sin detenerse, y de vez en cuando le daba pequeños golpecitos al butiétchu (odre) mirándole al trasluz, para comprobar si ya estaba la manteca hecha. Otra goxada (cesta grande) de ofensivos insultos le lanzó mi tía de esta forma en el parejo que se estaba atando el moño:—Non pos comu nun me faigas la mazaura lluéu, xúrutelu pe lu más xagráu qu'ista semana vas fumaretiar pel ráu del bracu, perque nun tenu treti 'l tabacu de la Villa axín nus esmuelguemus a tochazus. (No pues como no me hagas la manteca luego, te lo juro por lo más sagrado que toda esta semana vas a fumar por el rabo del cerdo, porque no he de traerte el tabaco de la Villa así nos degollemos a palos). —Quiero destacar, que si algún vicio desencaldaba (desarmaba) a mi tío, era precisamente el de ser un fumador empedernido, ya que yo le he visto en muchas ocasiones fumar hasta las hojas de los artos y de las patatas, pues él afirmaba, que tales hojas bien mauras y'enxuchinas (bien maduras y muy secas), tenían un ligero parecido con el tabaco. Por tal razón, cuando escuchó a su esposa amenazarle con que no le iba traer el tabaco para la semana, se sulfuró de tal modo y manera, que cesando de mazar, se levantó airado de encima del garbetu (tronco nudoso de madera donde se suele partir la leña) donde en la caleya 'l lláu de sou teixá taba xentáu mazuchandu (en la calleja al lado de su casa estaba sentado haciendo la manteca) y dirigiéndose endemoniadamente rabioso hacia su mujer con el butiétchu (odre) entre sus manos, que tendría dentro de él sobre unos diez litros de leche, digo, que levantando con enloquecida fuerza el odre con entrambas manos en el alto, se lo estrapachóu (reventó) en medio de la cabeza, poniéndola toda enllordá ya pingandu de lleiche (sucia y mojada de leche), en el parexu lleldar que che falaba. (El peor y más ruin negocio que hice en toda mi vida, fue el haberme unido contigo en este hediondo casorio que me ha aconsejado el demonio, enredadora y mala mujer, con la lengua más sucia que la porquería del cerdo, hija del buitre de tu padre, que Lucifer estará en los infiernos quemándole los negros hígados que tenía. Múdate las ropas ahora mismo y márchate con la manteca y los huevos para el mercado, sino quieres que coja la cesta con todos ellos y te haga una tortilla estrapallándutelus d'enría la mótcheira de llobona que tenes.
