Любое событие, которое может вызвать опасные уровни оптической мощности, излучаемой из некоторой точки в тракте оптической системы передачи. Общими причинами потери целостности оптической линии являются разрыв кабеля, неисправность оборудования, отсоединение разъемов и т. п. (МСЭ-T G.664).
