Общий рынок
Европейский общий рынок, созданный в 1957 г. шестью государствами-членами Европейского объединения угля и стали (ЕОУС). Одновременно с ним было образовано Европейское сообщество по атомной энергии (“Евратом”); в 1967 г. руководящие органы трех этих сообществ были объединены в Комиссию европейских сообществ (см.: European Commission (Европейская комиссия)) и Совет европейских сообществ (см.: European Community (Европейское сообщество)). Европейский парламент и Европейский суд были сформированы в соответствии с Римским договором 1957 г. Целью договора было формирование более тесного союза европейских государств путем устранения экономического влияния существующих между ними границ. Договором предусматривались упразднение таможенных пошлин и квот в торговле между странами-членами Сообщества, проведение общей торговой политики в отношении третьих стран, отмена ограничений на передвижение людей и капиталов между странами-членами и общая сельскохозяйственная политика (Соттоп Agricultural Policy). В дополнение к вышеперечисленным мерам договор предполагал гармонизацию социального и экономического законодательства, чтобы мог функционировать Общий рынок (см. также: European Investment Bank (Европейский инвестиционный банк)). В 1973 г. к Сообществу присоединились Великобритания, Ирландия и Дания, в 1979 г.-Греция, а в 1986 г. членами Сообщества стали Португалия и Испания, в результате чего Сообщество расширилось до 12 стран.
