В том смысле как этот термин применяется в словаре — логическое или математическое описание компонентов и функций, отображающих существенные свойства моделируемого объекта или процесса (обычно рассматриваемых как системы или элементы системы). М. используется как условный образ, сконструированный для упрощения их исследования. Природа моделей может быть различной (общепризнанной единой классификации моделей в настоящее время не существует): материальные или вещественные модели (например, модель самолета в аэродинамической трубе), знаковые модели двух типов: графические (чертеж, географическая карта) и математические (формула, описывающая гравитационное взаимодействие двух тел); материально-идеальные («деловая игра«); словесное описание объекта (явления, процесса) можно также рассматривать как его модель. В управлении хозяйственными процессами наибольшее значение имеют математические, прежде всего, экономико-математические модели, часто объединяемые в комплексы моделей и системы моделей. Подробнее см. 1. Исследование объектов познания на моделях. 2. Построение и изучение моделей реально существующих предметов и явлений, а также предполагаемых (конструируемых) объектов. М. в обоих указанных смыслах является мощным орудием научного познания и решения практических задач и широко используется как в науке, так и во многих областях производственной деятельности человека. С теоретической точки зрения, модель — гомоморфное отображение моделируемого объекта действительности (см. Гомоморфизм). Ряд авторов, стремясь глубже проникнуть в процесс образования модели, утверждают, что она изоморфна (См. Изоморфизм) по отношению к некоторому абстрактному образу, представлению об объекте, которое в свою очередь является его гомоморфным отображением. М. основывается на принципе аналогии и позволяет (при определенных условиях и с учетом неизбежной относительности аналогии) изучать объект, почему либо трудно доступный для изучения, не непосредственно, а через рассмотрение другого, подобного ему и более доступного объекта — модели. По свойствам модели оказывается возможным судить о свойствах изучаемого объекта — однако не обо всех, а лишь о тех, которые аналогичны и в модели, и в объекте, и при этом важны для исследования (такие свойства называются существенными). Различается подобие между моделируемым объектом и моделью: физическое — когда объект и модель имеют одинаковую или сходную физическую природу; структурное — при сходстве между структурой объекта и структурой модели; функциональное — подобие с точки зрения выполнения объектом и моделью сходных функций при соответствующих воздействиях; динамическое — между последовательно изменяющимися состояниями объекта и модели; вероятностное — между процессами вероятностного характера в объекте и модели; геометрическое — между пространственными характеристиками объекта и модели. Соответственно различаются типы моделей.
