Получил дальнейшее развитие в 1860-е в период "золотой лихорадки" [ Gold Rush] в восточной части штата Вашингтон и в Айдахо. В период второй мировой войны на судоверфи компании "Кайзер" [ Kaiser, Henry John], построенной в 1942, было спущено на воду более ста военных кораблей. Среди достопримечательностей форт [Fort Vancouver National Historic Site] и аэропорт Пирсон [Pearson Airfield] - старейший действующий аэропорт в США. Здесь в 1937 приземлился самолет В. Чкалова, Г.
