       Productor y director, la mayor parte de su filmografia en este ultimo ambito esta formada por westerns de todo signo y condicion, siempre al servicio de una de las estrellas del momento, incluidos cuatro seriales. Entre 1932 y 1953 produce mas de cien peliculas. Dirige 23 entre 1931 y 1937, mas una postrera en 1946. Lo que mas ha perdurado de su obra es, sin duda, el western que hizo con John Wayne como protagonista, no porque sea mejor que cualquiera de los que realizo con Lane Chandler, Tom Mix o Johnny Mack Brown, sino por la trascendencia futura del actor.
