= IRинфракрасный, ИКтип электромагнитного излучения в диапазоне частот, расположенном между красным диапазоном видимого света и диапазоном сантиметровых волн, т. е. соответствует излучаемому теплу и невидимо человеческому глазу; ИК-область спектра делится на:-ближнюю (near infrared, NIR): 0,7 - 1,5 мкм-коротковолновую (short-wave infrared, SWIR): 1,5 - 3 мкм-средневолновую (mid-wave infrared, MWIR): 3 - 8 мкм-длинноволновую (long-wavelength infrared, LWIR): 8 - 15 мкми дальнюю область ИК-спектра (far infrared, FIR): больше 15 мкм.MWIR и LWIR называются также thermal infrared, a NIR и SWIR - reflected infrared. ИК-волны излучаются некоторыми видами светодиодов. Применяются в качестве несущей частоты (carrier frequency) для передачи сигналов на очень короткие расстояния, например в интерфейсах компьютерной периферии и в пультах дистанционного управления бытовой техникой.
