Lanza rota es un remake, en clave de western, de Odio entre hermanos (House of Strangers, Joseph L. Mankiewicz, 1949), con Spen cer Tracy en el lugar de Edward G. Robinson. No se suele incluir, y se aportan razones al respecto, a El arbol de la vida como perteneciente al genero.
