Огненное колесо (фейерверк). Когда император Максимилиан пожелал взять в жёны святую деву Екатерину Александрийскую, та воспротивилась, мотивируя свой отказ тем, что была невестой Христа. Разгневанный правитель приказал пытать Екатерину на колесе с шипами, но путы, которыми она была привязана к колесу, спали сразу же, как только колесо начало поворачиваться. Ей отрубили голову, но из раны потекло молоко, а не кровь. По легенде, ангелы перенесли её тело на Синайскую гору, где её останки по сей день покоятся в монастыре. Святая Екатерина стала покровительницей мастеров колёсных дел и прядильщиц, а чудесное превращение крови в молоко сделало её покровительницей медицинских сестёр. Catherine wheel также обозначает кувырок «колесом». -
