Использование кэш-памяти повышает производительность системы благодаря уменьшению задержек, возникающих при обмене данными между процессором и ОЗУ. Кэш память физически отделена от главной памяти. По местоположению различают первичную (L1) и вторичную (L2) кэш-память процессора, а также кэш-память третьего уровня (L3).
