biological reserve
An area of land and/or of water designated as having protected status for purposes of preserving certain biological features. Reserves are managed primarily to safeguard these features and provide opportunities for research into the problems underlying the management of natural sites and of vegetation and animal populations. Regulations are normally imposed controlling public access and disturbance. (Source: GOOD)

trade barrier
An artificial restraint on the free exchange of goods and services between nations. The most common types of trade barriers are tariffs, quotas, and exchange control. Such obstacles to trade are usually imposed by a country that wishes to protect domestic products in their home market against foreign competition, better its terms of trade, reduce domestic unemployment, or improve its balance-of-payments position. The raising of trade barriers by one country often provokes other nations position. Generally, the effect of a trade barrier is to reduce the volume of trade while increasing the domestic price of the protected good. Thus, it results in a relatively inefficient allocation of world resources and reduces the level of total world income and production. (Source: GREENW)

При сравнимых в остальном условиях-- This change results in a drop in stiffness of 30 percent for otherwise comparable conditions. При условии, что - provided (that), providing, given, with; with the understanding that; except thatFor example, the effect of varying coefficient of friction can be predicted, provided this does not introduce other wear mechanisms. The resultant energy level of turbulence is fixed by the imposed length scale, provided that the scale is sufficiently large.Using the stack temperature in equation (...) does not introduce serious error, providing bed temperature gradients are not too high.Given a reasonable areal extent of the cavity, roof collapse will occur. This experimental evidence implies that the classical von Karman approach to pure Newtonian flow is applicable in homogeneous slurry flow, except that the von Karman constant should be altered. The ratio of dimensionless load and L can be considered as constant with the geometrical parameters held near the optimal values. These [heat inputs] will be ignored henceforth, however, with the understanding that in certain cycles the measurement of secondary flows may be necessary for the determination of the total heat input.

Рассматриваемый ( в препозиции) - the; the relevant (интересующий нас); the subject; the candidate (один из вариантов); ( в постпозиции) - involved, considered, concerned, covered; being considered; under consideration, under investigation, under discussion; of interest, in question, at handThe physical process consists of distributed parameter dynamic elements, most generally represented by nonlinear partial differential equations. The transducers face each other across the relevant blade passage.Maximum mechanical constraint conditions were not attained with the subject specimens.Because efficiency is very important for the application involved, a design change was considered.Mechanical spring arrangements considered lacked sufficient response to track the motion. The load requirement for the station concerned is shown in Fig.The many rail bridges covered were structurally adequate for the large loads imposed by a 36-axle Schnabel Car.The usual method of doing this is to control all other constituents and change only the constituent being considered. The quantity Ds is the change in effective stress for the particular element under consideration.Appropriate properties for the particular grade of maraging steel under investigation are given in Table. The overall efficiency of the process turned out to be even higher than in our paper under discussion. The elbow of interest is well below the reactor beltline. On the other hand, there is a penalty for providing structural support at a greater radius than that for the conductor in question.Although, strictly speaking, these do not apply to the problem at hand, they will nevertheless be helpful in assessing the influence of the shell curvature upon K.Русско-английский научно-технический словарь переводчика > рассматриваемый

— We then refer to the vector as a consumption vector or consumption bundle.
— The consumption set is a subset of the commodity space whose elements are the consumption bundles that the individual can conceivably consume given the physical constraints imposed by his environment.
— One way to accomplish this is to imagine a situation in which a change in prices is accompanied by a change in the consumer's wealth that makes his initial consumption bundle just affordable at the new prices.
— The "substitution" terminology is apt because the term slk(p, w) measures the differential change in the consumption of commodity l (i.e., the substitution to or from other commodities) due to a differential change in the price of commodity k when wealth is adjusted so that the consumer can still just afford his original consumption bundle (i.e., due solely to a change in relative prices).
