(протест.-баптистская секта, возникшая в Германии в 1709 под руководством Александра Мака (1679-1735) ( Alexander Mack) и быстро распространившаяся в Голландии и Швейцарии; в 1719-29 данкеры переселились в США, спасаясь от преследований; в 1880-х гг. разделились на "прогрессистов" ( the Progressives) и "консерваторов" (the Conservatives ("Old Church")); с 1908 официальное название "Церковь братьев" ("Church of Brethren"); сейчас насчитывается ок. 230 тыс. данкеров; их общины имеются в 35 штатах США; их священники не получают зарплату, им запрещено давать клятвы и обращаться к помощи закона, они обязаны носить простую одежду и не иметь оружия) the Dunkers, the Dankards, the Tunkers, the Dippers
