Ces établissements - interdits aux personnes de moins de seize ans - étaient soumis à des horaires sévèrement réglementés, qui se sont beaucoup assouplis récemment (voir encadré à licensing hours). De même, le pub a cessé d'être un simple débit de boissons pour devenir de plus en plus une sorte de brasserie-restaurant, servant des repas légers. -
