Американская фаза Семилетней войны между Францией и Англией (1756-63), которая на американской территории продолжалась девять лет с 1754. Боевые действия велись между Англией и Францией и их индейскими союзниками и до 1758 характеризовалась перевесом французов. 28 мая 1754 отряд виргинцев под командованием Дж. Вашингтона [ Washington, George] захватил французский форт [ Fort Duquesne] на р. Огайо [ Ohio River], но был блокирован в форте Несессити [ Fort Necessity] французами и индейцами и сдался (3 июля 1754). Экспедиция британского генерала Э. Браддока [ Braddock, Edward] была разбита у того же форта Дюкен 9 июля, а сам Брэддок умер от ран. Англия формально объявила войну Франции 17 мая 1756. Осенью 1758 по распоряжению британского премьер-министра У. Питта в Америку были переброшены значительные силы. 25 ноября 1758 англичане взяли Дюкен и переименовали его в Питсбург [ Pittsburgh], в мае 1759 высадили десант в долине р. Св. Лаврентия [ St. Lawrence River], 13 сентября взяли Квебек, 9 сентября 1760 Монреаль и установили полный контроль над Канадой. 10 февраля 1763 был подписан Парижский мирный договор [ Treaty of Paris].
